Our Place Story Our Place Story

At Our Place we apply a holistic view to all our developments – considering the social, environmental and commercial impact of the places we create in both the long and the short term, ensuring that what we create benefits all and leaves a proud legacy. Our strong commercial sense, our expertise, respect for tradition and location, insight and planning all lead to the creation of appropriate and successful places.

Our placemaking story Our placemaking story

With each of our projects we take the time to build an in-depth understanding of the community and location – capturing its essence to create a unique and characterful vision. We believe spending time in this way is essential to creating appropriate places that generate an authentic sense of place and belonging.

Our Spitalfields Story Our Spitalfields Story

Our Chair, Dominic, has lived in Spitalfields since the 1990s just around the corner from Toynbee Street. He has seen the change from an area centred around an abandonned vegetable market to the vibrant and popular Spitalfields of today. As a long-term resident, it was important to Dominic and the Our Place team that this street, one of the very last derelict parts of Spitalfields, was sensitively improved.

The overriding mission of Spitalfields Works was to reflect the identity and variety of Spitalfields. Much development in Spitalfields of late has been of ‘nowhere’ architecture that reflects neither the rich history of Spitalfields nor its dynamic mix of uses and human scaled street scapes. Sptialfields Works is a deliberate celebration of this wonderful, changing but enduring part of London.
